Must say im pretty disappointed in the lack of content release. When you look at the roadmap alot of the goals have reached the "EA Testing Stage" yet we only have 2 tractors and 2 implements in the game
This is only a Tech Demo v0.0.0.9.0. On the roadmap for MS1 that's what will be getting when Early Access releases it will be v0.1.0 .
Hi FS98 this is wrong. @Memphis could you Please write your Post about how It will be done here in english like you did in the German part of the Forum. Thanks

Tomorrow we are going to release a new version of our CnC tech demo.

We would like to continue the current approach of improving the demo, that means: testing and analyzing together with the community. We would like to thank you again for your feedback at this point.

Due to some unforseen bugs in the tech demo we unfortunately have to postpone the release of the Early access v0.1.0 for a bit. With the upcoming updates we will regularly extend the planned content through patches, which will not only include bug fixes but also assets, improvements and functionality of v0.1.0, though.

With the new update two new machines are finding their way into the game. From now on you’ll have a Mercedes Benz Trac 1400 and a Lemken Juwel 8 at your disposal. This means that you are now able to not only cultivate, but also plow the fields!
Working on a translation of Memphis' post on the german forums.

    • @Jeytav no worries, here is our answer (German version: see previous post):

As mentioned in the last update we will patch the tech demo to version v0.1.0.0. This will simultaneously initiate the official start of the Early Access phase. This means that we will implement content like machines, features and bugfixes with new updates until everything is ready for the release of v0.1.0.0.

We don’t work on the tech demo and an Early Access build at the same time. There is only the developer version and we are patching content from that into the tech demo, to which you have access. You could call it Early Access if you take it literally, not least because the bug fixing and overall optimization can be done much more efficient with your help and we are made aware of things which might not have been obvious to us. You are all a great help and we really appreciate it.

In order to fix bugs more purposefully, we prefer it to give you more content with further updates (like machines and features which you might have seen in the videos). If we had given you all the things that were already there or which are only half implemented, it would have been much more difficult and time consuming to fix all of the issues. We think that with this tech demo we have a very good tool on our hand to react to small things faster. This project consists of many many small parts which have to work together when you put them together. With our current approach we have a better handle on and control over those single elements. It also gives us the opportunity to maybe even implement some wishes or suggestions from the community into the game in a more timely manner.

There has been some real change since our first videos. Machines have had distinct updates, mesh and texture related, and also updated functions. The maps, including vegetation and terrain, have been strongly optimized, visually and regarding performance. This can be seen for example in the soil on the fields, the grass and the buildings. A lot of what can be seen in the videos was work in progress and often one of multiple research findings, like the snapping of plants or the display of a plow furrow. We often develop more than one approach and then decide what is the best solution to be implemented into a version. It is also possible that later on some completely different techniques are deployed. This can be the case because of some side effects which couldn’t be seen in the videos like performance problems or visual errors.

Regarding the topic of communication in the forum:
We did register that some of you have expressed the wish of more feedback from our side. In reaction to that we are planning to recruit moderators for different parts of the forum soon.

I hope this answer gives you a little bit of an insight about our approach and the procedure of how we develop Cattle and Crops.
    • @Memphis that's great.. Just waiting for the next update ;)

    • Very interesting read and I'm sure everyone is glad you have explained why you are doing it the way you are.

I am not fussed either way but I do like the way your team is going about it actually, with releasing everything in small parts.

I look forward to many more updates, optimization and enjoying the game some more.

p.s I am happy to read that you will be looking at recruiting moderators, they will be a welcome addition to the forums I'm sure.

    • Come on, what we have now is the only one that is actually implemented, the rest is
separate code that possibly has not yet been tested ...

In this case we talk about several months before receiving a minimally stable version with all the functions mentioned in the kickstarter.
Taking into account the current state of the technical demo, and the amount of content that is yet to be introduced, we are talking about several
      months ...

In this case I do not understand why you had announced the 0.1.0.0 for June when seeing the state of the
technical demo was obvious that he has a lot of work.

      regards
    • I think the answer to this is pretty simple. They had only done internal testing of the game on a few computers, they realised that they should probably release a stripped down version of the game first to make sure that the game ran well enough but then bugs galore started rolling in and instead of just keeping to their current schedule they decided to change the way the game would be released so that they wouldn't get drowned in bugs, and that is why they are now going to release content with machines and features slowly so that they can fix the issues that are introduced slowly, until we hit 0.1.0.0

Think of minecraft, when it was first released years ago it had nothing but then slowly as the years went on stuff got added slowly so the devs could keep up with bugs introduced by new features.

So honestly from my pov this is the best decision they could've made spent some time with the community to create a stable and solid foundation(0.1.0.0) and then just keep on grinding.

    • Something you should not forget: the CnC Team is a pretty new Team that consists of a lot of people that probably didn't work together on a big project before. It's very common in project management that you miscalculate time on your first big project cause you try to estimate the development time without much experience in the present team constellation.
    • With the official news of what direction(s) they are going it makes a great deal of sense. A solid business plan and a good strategy all round. Thanks for keeping us up to date it's appreciated.

PS: For the nay sayers on things taking too long, try create something, anything yourself. Perhaps even just a simple mod and maybe you will start to appreciate why some things get delayed. As others have said, it will come when it will come.
