but it seems like here are a lot of supporters/people that joined this startup with the intension everything would 100% go acourding to plan and no delays. sadly that is not how it works in alot ofcases with kickstart projects/startups (some getting out of money bevore they even finished a product) i dont got the feeling they will not make it but delays are not strange in devolopment (if no delay 70% of the time its rushed and not the best quality)
But! If you encounter a delay, you need to start managing expectations. If you do not communicate clearly why there is a delay, and what this means for the EA, people will start to make their own assumptions (and most of the time they aint positive..). Bad communication will create frustration.
It's one thing that the community starts making up their own explanations (clearly we really like to know what's going on). But I've read the word 'refund' now a couple of times. A company that's fully depended on the commitment of their future customers should always try to prevent that word from ever coming up, no matter where.
And it's not that hard. Keep us in the loop. Explain what is going on, give us a feeling we can still trust everything is going well. Just a couple of sentences, will cost 5 mins tops. If all is going well, why wouldn't want to communicate this? Tell us about all the awesome stuff you are working on. I mean, you do want to keep our trust (and thus our kickstarter 'commitment') right?
A happy community is an understanding community. Understanding always starts with communication.
