Sewage Works – AI entry/exit pathing problems.

  • Sewage Works – AI entry/exit pathing problems.

It seems that the Sewage Works has a number of problems relating to AI pathing either where the sewage works acts as the starting point for a task, else as the ending point for a task.

1: the gateways that forms the two entries/exits are to close to the road, this causes a problem with AI tractor and slurry tanker trying to turn into or out of a gateway, as the pathing in order to try to make a tractor turn sharply to make the gateway will place a waypoint in the fence when trying to enter, else when exiting, it will initiate its turn onto the main road while most of the slurry tanker is still within the confines of the sewage works and has not passed through the gateway, especially if it is trying to head west along the main road.

2: when the sewage works is acting as a starting point for an AI task with the tractor and slurry tanker positioned by the filling point in a north facing orientation, the AI will try to exit via the eastern gateway rather than the more logical western gateway given their starting orientation, while if the tractor and slurry tanker are in a southern orientation by the filling point, the AI will try to exit via the western gateway rather than the more logical eastern gateway given the starting orientation (i.e. in both cases the AI will try to execute a turn within the sewage works due to the desire to exit via the least logical gateway).

3: when the sewage works is the ending point for a task, if the tractor and slurry tanker is travelling east along the road it will try to enter the sewage works via the eastern gateway, while if the tractor and slurry tanker is travelling west along the road it will try to enter via the western gateway.

    Some possible solutions:
Move the entire sewage works ~10m to ~15m north, this would create longer approach road to each gateway, meaning AI tractor and slurry tanker trying to enter the sewage works could complete their turn off the main road before reaching the gateways, this would also allow AI trying to exit the sewage works to drive beyond the gateway more before initiating their turn onto the main road.

Create a unified 1-way system a little like maze silo, so there is only 1 entry and 1 exit for the sewage works, thus ensuring AI will maintain a constant unified use of gateways with minimum conflict especially as CNC evolves more e.g. when multiple AI are trying to use the sewage works as part of multiple tasks where they may need to refill multiple times for large fields.
